About Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park

Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park extends 120 km along the southern Indian Ocean coastline of WA's southwest corner, from Cape Naturaliste in the north to Cape Leeuwin in the south. The park encompasses 15,600 ha of 28 separate reserves protecting karst cave systems (including 150+ caves, with six open to the public), granite headlands, surf beaches, coastal heath, and tall karri forest. It includes iconic coastal features such as Sugarloaf Rock, Canal Rocks, and the meeting of the Indian and Southern Oceans at Cape Leeuwin.

Getting There

Cape Naturaliste is 260 km south of Perth near Dunsborough. Cape Leeuwin is 335 km south of Perth at Augusta.

Visitor Tips

  • Cape Leeuwin waterwheel and lighthouse can be toured — book at Augusta visitor centre
  • Sugarloaf Rock is best at sunrise — red-tailed tropicbirds nest Oct–Apr
  • Cape to Cape Track can be walked in sections or as a 5-day trek
  • Canal Rocks is a free, spectacular short walk 10 minutes from Yallingup
