Federal Australian Road Rules

The Australian Road Rules (ARR) provide a national framework for road rules across all states and territories. These rules are largely consistent nationwide, though each state can implement specific variations.

Speed Limits

  • Built-up areas: 50 km/h (unless signposted)
  • Outside built-up areas: 100 km/h (unless signposted)
  • School zones: 40 km/h (during school hours)
