About Jewel Cave

Jewel Cave is the largest of WA's accessible show caves, located 8 km north of Augusta in the southern end of the [Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park](/au/national-parks/wa/leeuwin-naturaliste-national-park). It contains the longest straw stalactite recorded in any tourist cave in Australia — 5.69 metres long and still growing. The cave's vast chambers and spectacular speleothems made it popular soon after its commercial opening in 1959, and it remains a highlight of any southwest WA trip.
