About Grampians National Park

Grampians National Park, known to the traditional Djab wurrung and Jardwadjali peoples as Gariwerd, is a rugged sandstone mountain range rising dramatically from the surrounding flat agricultural plains of western Victoria. The park contains more than 80% of Victoria's Aboriginal rock art sites, over 970 native plant species, and exceptional wildlife. Towering sandstone ridges, waterfalls, and sweeping lookouts make it one of Victoria's premier wilderness destinations.

Getting There

The main entry town of Halls Gap is 260km west of Melbourne via the Western Highway (A8) to Ararat, then north on the B180. Alternatively via Stawell.

Visitor Tips

  • Stay in Halls Gap for the best access. The Wonderland Loop (9.3km) combines the Grand Canyon, the Pinnacle, and Sundial Car Park and is the park's best day walk. Book camping well in advance for school holidays.
