Getting There
Lakes Entrance is the main hub, 320km east of Melbourne via the Princes Highway (M1). Bairnsdale is the regional centre, also on the Princes Highway.
Visitor Tips
- •Hire a houseboat or kayak for the best lake experience. The Mitchell River Silt Jetties walk from Paynesville is a unique and little-known highlight. Bioluminescence is best seen on dark nights in summer from kayaks near Metung.
