About Kangaroo Island

Australia's third-largest island sits 13km off the Fleurieu Peninsula and is one of the country's premier wildlife destinations. The island shelters pure-strain Ligurian bees, sea lions, koalas, kangaroos, echidnas and over 250 bird species. Flinders Chase National Park occupies its western third and contains the island's most iconic geological features.

Getting There

SeaLink ferry from Cape Jervis (45 min) or fly from Adelaide via Regional Express (~30 min). Cape Jervis is 1.5 hrs south of Adelaide.

Visitor Tips

  • A hire car or self-drive itinerary is essential — public transport is very limited. Book Seal Bay tours in advance. Allow a full day for Flinders Chase.
