False Cape Wines

Located in Penneshaw on the eastern tip of Kangaroo Island, False Cape Wines has been producing cool-climate varietals since 1999. The winery draws on the island's distinctive maritime terroir to craft Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc — a focused range that reflects the conditions of one of South Australia's more remote wine regions.

False Cape's portfolio centres on three varieties well suited to Kangaroo Island's cool, sea-influenced climate. Getting There

Reaching False Cape Wines requires a bit of planning, but the journey is part of the experience. From Adelaide, head south for around 90 minutes to Cape Jervis, where you can board the ferry to Penneshaw — a crossing of approximately 30 minutes. The winery is a short drive from the Penneshaw ferry terminal.

There is no direct public transport to the cellar door, so you'll need your own vehicle. The good news is that caravan access is suitable, and the route works well for those touring the island at their own pace.
