Built in 2002 as a roadside attraction celebrating Bowen's mango-growing heritage. In 2014, the sculpture was famously stolen as a publicity stunt, generating significant media attention before being recovered. It remains an iconic Big Thing and popular photo stop for road trippers.
Getting There
Bowen is in North Queensland, approximately 200 km south of Townsville on the Bruce Highway. The Big Mango is at the Bowen tourist information centre in the town centre. Well signposted from the highway.
