About Whitehaven Beach

Whitehaven Beach is a 7-kilometre stretch of pure white silica sand on Whitsunday Island, widely regarded as one of the world's finest beaches. The sand is 98% pure silica, which keeps it cool underfoot despite tropical temperatures, and creates the brilliant white colour that contrasts dramatically with the vivid blue-green waters of the Whitsunday Passage. Hill Inlet at the northern end offers a spectacular lookout over swirling patterns of white sand and turquoise water that shift with every tide.
