About Springbrook & the Gold Coast Hinterland
Springbrook National Park sits high on the Gold Coast hinterland plateau, where cool temperate rainforest, mountain streams, and dramatic lookouts replace the coastal heat below. This is serious walking country—the park is laced with well-maintained tracks ranging from easy riverside circuits to challenging day hikes and the multi-day Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk.
Walks & Trails
Within a few kilometres of the visitor centre, you'll find accessible walks like Twin Falls Circuit and Ship's Stern Circuit, both easy options for families and casual walkers. For more challenge, Purling Brook Falls Circuit, Warrie Circuit, and Warringa Pool Track offer moderate hiking through rainforest. Serious hikers can tackle Lower Ballunjui Falls Track, Upper Ballunjui Falls Track, and Charraboomba Rock Trail further afield.
Camping
The Settlement camping area sits just 2km from the centre and offers caravan facilities within the national park. For walkers seeking backcountry experiences, Woonoongoora Walkers Camp is 7km away. Additional options include Natural Bridge Retreat, Numinbah Valley Bush Camping, and Binna Burra Mountain Lodge Campsite.
Attractions & Things to See
Purling Brook Falls is the park's signature waterfall, accessible via a short walk from the circuit trail. The Best of All Lookout delivers sweeping coastal and hinterland views, while Natural Bridge showcases a dramatic natural rock arch formed by creek erosion. Beyond the park, Lamington National Park lies 15km south with its own network of trails and rainforest scenery.
