About Tweed Heads & the Gold Coast

Tweed Heads sits at the northernmost tip of New South Wales, where the Tweed River meets the Pacific Ocean. The town straddles the state border with Queensland, giving visitors easy access to both coastal and hinterland experiences. Golden Beach, a long sandy stretch, dominates the townscape and attracts swimmers, surfers, and walkers year-round.

A network of urban trails within 1–2km provides convenient walking options. Warner Street, Griffith Street, Dutton Street, McLean Street, and Centaur Rememberance Walk offer accessible town walks. For longer hikes, Minjungbal Trail lies 3km away, while Pacific Parade offers beachside walking at a similar distance.

Camping

Several caravan parks cater to touring visitors within 2–4km of town. Kirra Beach Tourist Park, Boyds Bay Holiday Park, and Tweed Holiday Parks Tweed Heads are close to beaches and town facilities. For a longer stay or quieter setting, BIG4 Tweed Billabong Holiday Park and Pyramid Holiday Park sit 4km away.

Attractions & Things to See

Razorback Hill, just 2km away, offers local viewpoints and walking opportunities. For wildlife encounters, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is 10km north across the border.
