About the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail

The 62km Gippsland Plains Rail Trail joins the towns of Traralgon and Stratford, offering great views of the Great Dividing Range to the north, and passing though a number of small towns with different points of interest and accommodation options. It is serviced by V/Line trains at both ends.

The trail rises just 50m over its whole length. It has sections of asphalt near Traralgon but is then predominantly smooth gravel.

Traralgon is a major population centre for the Latrobe Valley. It has a shopping plaza, fast-food outlets and accommodation.

Trail hub with interpretive sign 2km from Traralgon off Burnets Rd [2025]
