About the North Face

North Face is a trail in the inner north of Canberra, set in the bushland reserves on the New South Wales side of the border classification. The track has a dirt surface and is shared between walkers and mountain bikers, so users from each group should be aware of the other and ride or walk accordingly. Detailed metrics for this trail — including total distance, elevation gain, graded difficulty and estimated time on the track — are not currently recorded, so check local trailhead signage or the managing land authority before setting out. The trail is not signposted as dog friendly, wheelchair accessible or stroller suitable. The location puts it within easy reach of several Lake Burley Griffin landmarks: the SievX Memorial sits about 3.9 kilometres away, the Captain Cook Memorial Jet roughly 4.8 kilometres away, and Yarralumla Bay around 5.2 kilometres away, which makes it straightforward to combine the walk or ride with a visit to the lake foreshore. As always in the Canberra bushland, watch for snakes in warmer months and pack water for dry summer conditions.
