About Sugarloaf Rock
Sugarloaf Rock is a dramatic conical granite sea stack rising from the Indian Ocean near Cape Naturaliste, named for its distinctive sugarloaf shape. [The rock](/au/places/nsw/the-rock) is a nesting site for red-tailed tropicbirds — rare in WA — which nest here between October and April, visible from the cliff-top walking track. The contrast of white waves crashing against dark granite, with the turquoise ocean behind, makes it one of the most photographed coastal scenes in the [Margaret River](/au/places/wa/margaret-river) region.
