History & Significance
Opened in 1971, the 16-metre fibreglass pineapple became an iconic Sunshine Coast landmark and roadside attraction. Built during the early tourism boom in Queensland, it reflects the region's agricultural heritage and quirky Australian big-thing culture. Now heritage-listed, it underwent major revitalisation to preserve this cultural icon for future generations.
Getting There
Located at Woombye, approximately 30km north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast. Access via the Bruce Highway, then inland towards the hinterland. Nearest major town is Nambour (5km away). Limited public transport; a car is recommended.
