About Wilpena Pound (Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park)
Wilpena Pound is a vast natural amphitheatre formed by a ring of ancient Precambrian quartzite mountains enclosing a 80 km² basin in the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park. The only entry to the pound is through a narrow gorge carved by Wilpena Creek. Sacred to the Adnyamathanha people, the pound holds deep cultural significance and the name 'Ikara' means 'meeting place' in the local language.

Getting There
450km north of Adelaide via Port Augusta and Hawker on the Princes Highway and Flinders Ranges Way. Wilpena Pound Resort is the main hub.

- •Stay at least two nights to explore beyond the valley floor. Join an Adnyamathanha cultural tour for authentic insight. Wildflower season (August–September) is spectacular after winter rains.
