History & Significance

Korowan (Mataranka Falls) holds significance for the local Jawoyn people. The natural waterfall and thermal springs in the Mataranka area have been important to Indigenous communities for generations. The site is a popular local landmark for photography and nature appreciation.

Located near Mataranka in the Northern Territory, approximately 10 km south of the township. Access via Stuart Highway and local roads. Nearest major town is Katherine, about 100 km north.
