About Victor Harbor and Granite Island
Victor Harbor is a historic coastal town on the Fleurieu Peninsula, the site of South Australia's whale watching capital. Southern right whales migrate to Encounter Bay between June and September to calve and nurse, regularly visible from the shore. Granite Island is connected to the mainland by a 630m causeway and is home to a colony of little (fairy) penguins.

- •Book the guided evening penguin tour with the ranger to maximise sightings. Combine with a day at Deep Creek Conservation Park (40km west). Whale season (June–September) is the best time to visit.
