About Cape Tribulation
Cape Tribulation is the dramatic headland where the ancient Daintree Rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef, making it one of the only places on Earth where two UNESCO World Heritage Areas converge at the coastline. The cape and its surroundings preserve the most intact section of tropical rainforest remaining in Australia, supporting extraordinary biodiversity including cassowaries, tree kangaroos, saltwater crocodiles, and hundreds of rare plant species. The beautiful beaches here back directly onto ancient rainforest canopy, creating an atmosphere of timeless wilderness.

History & Significance
Cape Tribulation was named by Captain James Cook in 1770 when his ship HMS Endeavour struck a reef nearby, marking a turning point in his voyage along the Australian coast. The area is located on Kuku Yalanji Country and has been inhabited by Indigenous peoples for tens of thousands of years. The convergence of the Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef at this headland creates one of only two places globally where two UNESCO World Heritage Areas meet at the coastline, recognised for its exceptional biodiversity and geological significance.
