History & Significance
The Tropic of Capricorn is one of the five major circles of latitude on Earth, located at 23.5Β° south of the equator. This roadside monument marks the point where the tropic crosses the Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory. It's a popular stop for travellers and photographers documenting their journey across Australia.
Getting There
Located on the Stuart Highway near Waugh, approximately 22 km south of Alice Springs. Accessible by car via the main highway.
Parking
Free parking available at the roadside stop. Limited capacity but typically sufficient for the brief visitor volume. Suitable for cars and larger vehicles including caravans.
