History & Significance

Katoomba Lookout is a popular vantage point in the Blue Mountains, a World Heritage area known for its dramatic cliff scenery and eucalyptus forests. The region became a major tourist destination in the late 19th century as Sydney residents sought mountain retreats.

Getting There

Located in Katoomba, Blue Mountains NSW. From Sydney, take the M4 Motorway or A7 Hume Highway to the Blue Mountains, then follow local signs. Approximately 90 minutes' drive west. Regular train services run to Katoomba station from Central Sydney.

Free parking available at the lookout. Limited spaces; can fill quickly on weekends and public holidays. Limited accessibility for disabled visitors — check current conditions. Overflow parking available in nearby Katoomba town centre.
