Best Time to Visit
March–April during harvest season for vintage atmosphere and events. Autumn (March–May) offers pleasant weather and fewer crowds than summer. Avoid the peak heat of January–February unless you prefer quieter visiting outside main tourism season.

Stanton & Killeen Wines sits at 440 Jacks Road in Rutherglen, one of north-eastern Victoria's most historically significant wine districts. This is a winery with genuine roots in the region — a long-established producer that reflects Rutherglen's deep tradition of fortified wine making and warm-climate viticulture.
The Wines
Rutherglen built its reputation on fortified wines, and Stanton & Killeen is part of that tradition. The region's continental climate and distinctive red soils are well suited to producing the rich, concentrated styles that have defined Australian fortifieds for generations. Alongside the fortifieds, the vineyard conditions lend themselves to full-bodied dry reds — the kind of wines that suit the warm growing season of north-eastern Victoria.
Cellar Door Experience
The cellar door at Stanton & Killeen takes a straightforward, no-fuss approach. You can taste directly at the cellar door with the surrounding vineyards as your backdrop — there's no elaborate staging here, just wine and the people who make it. A wine shop is also on-site, making it easy to pick up bottles to take home or continue with on the road.
There's no food service, so plan accordingly. You're welcome to bring your own picnic, and the setting amongst the vines makes for a pleasant spot to sit with something from home. If you'd prefer a sit-down meal, Rutherglen's township has cafes and restaurants a short drive away.
Allow around 45 minutes to an hour to taste through the range and browse the shop.
