About Freycinet & Freycinet National Park

Freycinet National Park sprawls across the Freycinet Peninsula, a dramatic landscape of quartzite peaks, secluded beaches, and windswept coastal cliffs. The area draws road trippers and hikers seeking some of Tasmania's most striking coastal scenery, with walking trails ranging from easy bay strolls to challenging summit climbs.

Walks & Trails

The national park offers 12 well-maintained trails for all fitness levels. Start with the Freycinet Walk and Cycle Track, an easy 4km trail just 1km from the visitor centre. For views, tackle the moderate Wineglass Bay Lookout (2.6km) or the more challenging Mount Amos (3.6km). Coastal walks include Cape Tourville and the Cape Tourville Circuit, both offering lighthouse views and ocean vistas.

Camping

BIG4 Iluka on Freycinet Holiday Park sits just 1km from the visitor centre and offers powered and unpowered sites for caravans and camper trailers, making it a convenient base for exploring the national park.

Attractions & Things to See

Wineglass Bay, the park's signature beach, is reached via a 6km return walk and lives up to its name with a curved white-sand shoreline backed by granite cliffs. Freycinet National Park encompasses the entire peninsula and features rocky coves, heath-covered slopes, and panoramic lookouts across the Tasman Sea.

Wineries & Cellar Doors

The Wine Glass Bay wine region lies 25–30km west. Visit Kelvedon or Rivulet for cool-climate pinot noir and riesling, or venture further to Devil's Corner Cellar Door, Apsley Gorge Vineyard, Ossa Wines, and Spring Vale Vineyards.

Pubs & Dining

The Iluka Tavern is just 1km away and offers meals and accommodation near the caravan park.
