About This Trail
A pleasant shared path from the heart of Geelong and through its expanding suburbs to Drysdale. From there, the 35km Bellarine Rail Trail shadows heritage train services through rolling farmland to the tourist town of Queenscliff. South Geelong to Drysdale (18km): Asphalt on or near the railway alignment. Drysdale to Queenscliff (17km): Predominately crushed granite and runs next to a heritage train line. From Drysdale, the line hosts the Q Train restaurant service and, from Lakers Siding, the Bellarine Railway as well, but the rail trail uses some quiet streets at the Queenscliff end. ESTA Emergency Markers are installed along the trail. In an emergency, call 000 and quote the code on the marker post nearest to you, eg BRT22. There are some crossings of major roads to watch out for. Major towns with all services include Geelong, Leopold, Drysdale and Queenscliff. Geelong is Victoria’s second largest city with a wide range of accommodation and dining options.
