About the Serpentine

Serpentine is a trail on the New South Wales mid-north coast hinterland, inland from South West Rocks, and is shared between walkers and mountain bikers on a dirt surface. Users from both groups should be alert to one another, and riders should be ready for natural ground conditions including loose dirt, roots and the variable traction typical of unsealed bush tracks. Structured data for length, elevation gain, graded difficulty and estimated time on the trail is not currently recorded, so check on-site signage or the managing land authority for current information before heading out. The trail is not signposted as dog friendly, wheelchair accessible or stroller suitable. The location places it within easy reach of several coastal attractions: Rotary Lookout sits around 4.6 kilometres away, while Trial Bay Gaol is about 24.5 kilometres away and Captain Cook Lookout around 29.6 kilometres distant, both useful pairings for a longer day exploring the region. As with most coastal hinterland walks, watch for ticks and leeches in damper months and carry plenty of water in summer.
