About Urunga & the Bellinger River

Urunga sits where the Bellinger River meets the Pacific Ocean on NSW's mid-north coast. This laid-back village is a natural base for exploring lagoon walks, waterfront camping, and the attractions of nearby Coffs Harbour, all within easy driving distance.

Walks & Trails

Short walks dominate the immediate area. The Flagstaff Walkway is just 1km away, while the Urunga Lagoon Footbridge offers a scenic 2km walk through the lagoon environment. For longer hikes, head to the Bluff Loop (9km), Nunguu Trail (10km), or the network of trails around Hells Bells, Mirral Trail, Ross Trail, and Bundageree Track, all within 11km.

Camping

Several caravan parks and campsites cluster around Urunga. North Coast Holiday Parks Urunga Heads and Reflections Urunga are both 1km away, while Urunga Waters Tourist Park is 2km distant. Further out, Reflections Mylestom and Bellinger River Tourist Park are 7km away.

Attractions & Things to See

Local viewpoints include Rotary Lookout (17km) and Sawtell Headland (22km). The Coffs Harbour region, 20–34km south, holds Coffs Harbour Butterfly House, The Big Banana, and Mutton Bird Island.

Wineries & Cellar Doors

Raleigh Winery is just 5km away, making it an easy stop for a tasting. Two Tails Wines is further south near Coffs Harbour (39km).

Urunga Golf Club is right on the doorstep at 1km. Bellingen Golf Course (15km) and Bonville International Golf Club (17km) offer additional options for keen golfers.
