History & Significance

The Tropic of Capricorn is one of the five major circles of latitude on Earth, located at 23.5° south of the equator. This roadside monument marks the point where the tropic crosses the Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory. It's a popular stop for travellers and photographers documenting their journey across Australia.

Located on the Stuart Highway near Waugh, approximately 22 km south of Alice Springs. Accessible by car via the main highway.
