About Adventure World
amusement park in Australia
Adventure World is a family amusement park located in Kwinana, about 45 kilometres south of Perth's CBD. Established in 1982, it has grown from a water-focused regional attraction into one of Western Australia's most popular multi-attraction leisure venues, drawing visitors from across the Perth metro area and beyond.
The park caters to a wide age range - from toddler-friendly rides through to more intense thrill rides for teenagers and adults - making it a practical choice for families with children of different ages travelling together.
What to See and Do
Adventure World's attractions span water rides, dry rides, and various family-friendly experiences. The park's water attractions remain a central drawcard, particularly during warm months, though the full mix of rides means there's plenty to do regardless of the weather (conditions permitting - some rides close in high winds or storms).
Given the limited shade across many sections of the park, it pays to plan your day strategically. Heading to the water rides early is a smart move, as queues build quickly once temperatures climb. Dry rides and less exposed areas can fill in the middle of the day.
The park is pram friendly and suits families with young children, with lockers available if you need somewhere secure to store belongings while you're on rides or in splash zones.
History
Adventure World opened in 1982, originally with a focus on water-based attractions. Over the decades it has evolved considerably, expanding its ride offering and establishing itself as a significant leisure facility for the region. It has become a familiar destination for Perth school excursions and remains privately operated as a Western Australian attraction.
Getting There and Access
The park is located in Kwinana and is accessed via the Kwinana Freeway (A2), approximately 45 kilometres south of Perth CBD. There is no public transport servicing the park directly, so a private vehicle is essential.
Parking is free, with a large carpark that includes accessible spaces near the main entrance. Overflow parking is available during peak periods. The carpark is also caravan and motorhome friendly, with ample space for larger vehicles.
Food and Facilities
Multiple food outlets are spread throughout the park, ranging from quick-service options to sit-down restaurants. BYO food is permitted in designated picnic areas, which is worth knowing if you're feeding a large family and want to manage costs. Water shoes or sandals are recommended if you're planning to use the splash zones.
Lockers are available on-site for storing valuables and dry clothing.
Best Time to Visit
The most comfortable and least crowded times to visit are during school terms on Tuesday through Thursday. April-May and September-October offer mild weather without the heat of summer or the peak holiday crowds. Summer school holidays and public holiday weekends are the busiest periods, with longer queues across the park.
Arriving at opening time makes a noticeable difference, particularly if you want to get through the most popular rides before queues peak. Checking the weather forecast before you go is also worthwhile - some rides operate subject to weather conditions.
Visitor Tips
- Arrive at opening time to make the most of shorter early-morning queues
- Head to water rides first - they're quickest to fill up as the day warms
- Sunscreen and a hat are important; shade is limited across much of the park
- Wear water shoes or sandals if you're planning on splash zones
- Grab a park map at the entrance or download the park's app before arrival
- Some rides may close during high winds or storms - check conditions on the day
