About Organ Pipes NP

[Organ Pipes National Park](/au/national-parks/vic/organ-pipes-national-park) protects a remarkable geological formation along Jackson Creek, where columns of basalt lava have cooled and fractured into hexagonal prisms resembling the pipes of a giant cathedral organ. The 45-metre tall columns were formed from a lava flow approximately 1 million years ago. The park is only 25km from Melbourne's CBD and contains significant Aboriginal cultural heritage.
