About Naracoorte Caves National Park

A UNESCO World Heritage Site (jointly listed with Riversleigh, Queensland), the Naracoorte Caves contain one of the world's most significant fossil deposits, preserving the remains of giant Pleistocene megafauna including giant wombats, marsupial lions, and Diprotodons. The cave system includes Victoria Fossil Cave, Wet Cave, and Blanche Cave, with stunning speleothems (stalactites and stalagmites). The caves also shelter the largest maternity colony of common bent-wing bats in Australia.

Visitor Tips

  • Book the Adventure Caving Tour if you want a challenging caving experience. The bat colony emerges at dusk from around November — book the Bat Cave night tour.
