History & Significance

Standley Chasm is a narrow gorge in the MacDonnell Ranges, traditionally significant to the Arrerntetye people. The chasm became a popular tourist attraction during the mid-20th century due to its dramatic red rock formations and the effect of sunlight penetrating the narrow opening.
