About Lizard Island
Lizard Island is the northernmost resort island on the Great Barrier Reef, located 270 km north of Cairns within the outer reef zone where coral visibility and marine biodiversity are exceptional. The island is part national park and part ultra-luxury resort, and is world-famous for its proximity to Cod Hole — one of the world's top ten dive sites — where large potato cod can be hand-fed by divers. The island's lagoon, sheltered beaches, and hilltop views from Cook's Look (where Captain Cook first surveyed the outer reef in 1770) offer a quintessential remote reef island experience.

History & Significance
