Lancaster Wines sits in Caversham, in the heart of the Swan Valley — Western Australia's oldest wine region and one of the most accessible from Perth. Established in 2001, the winery focuses on classic varieties that suit the valley's warm, dry climate, offering visitors a straightforward cellar door experience without the need to venture far from the city.
The Wines
Lancaster Wines works with three varieties well suited to the Swan Valley's conditions: shiraz, verdelho, and cabernet sauvignon. Verdelho in particular has long been associated with the Swan Valley, where the heat produces the variety's characteristic full-bodied, tropical fruit style. Shiraz and cabernet sauvignon round out the range, both performing reliably in the region's long, dry summers.
Cellar Door Experience
The cellar door offers tastings, a wine shop, and tours, giving you the opportunity to try the range before purchasing. If you're travelling with a group, it's worth booking a tour in advance to make sure the experience is tailored to your visit. The property is caravan-friendly, making it a practical stop for those touring the Swan Valley by road.
Getting There
Lancaster Wines is located in Caversham, approximately 25 kilometres northeast of the Perth CBD. The easiest route is via Great Eastern Highway. There's no direct public transport to the vineyard, so you'll need to drive or arrange private transport. Parking is available on site and suitable for caravans.
