Edith Falls

Located near Katherine in the NT, approximately 60 km south of Katherine township. Access via the Stuart Highway then local roads. No public transport available — self-drive essential.

Edith Falls is a popular local swimming and picnic spot in the Katherine region. The falls hold cultural significance to local Indigenous communities. It remains a modest but valued destination for travellers exploring the Top End.

Visit during the Dry season (May–October) when water flow is reliable and weather is comfortable
Swim in the upper pool rather than below the falls where currents can be strong
Arrive early to secure parking and avoid midday heat
Bring plenty of water, sun protection, and insect repellent
Wear sturdy shoes for rocky creek bed access
