About Taggerty & Cathedral Range State Park
Cathedral Range State Park protects a rugged alpine landscape of steep ridges, rocky peaks, and deep gorges in Victoria's central highlands. The Sugarloaf Saddle day visitor area is the gateway to some of the region's most challenging and rewarding walks, with trails ranging from easy creek walks to hard alpine scrambles.

The area has exceptional hiking options for all levels. Hard climbers should tackle Wells Cave Track or Canyon Track at the saddle itself. The Cathedral Range Southern Circuit (10.5km, moderate) is a popular ridge walk offering panoramic views. For easier options, Saint Bernards Track, Jawbone Creek Track, Little River Track, and Jawbone Track provide good alternatives. The Friends Nature Trail and Messmate Track explore the park's forest edges.
