About This Trail
The Port Fairy-Warrnambool Rail Trail is a great way to take in the rolling countryside for which the region is famous, with Southern Ocean glimpses near Warrnambool. All three towns have a wide range of facilities. From Warrnambool to Illowa the trail does not follow the original alignment and signage is minimal. Horses are permitted beside the trail from Penshurst-Warrnambool Rd (C183) in Koroit to Illowa, then down Illowa Rd to Millers Lane and on to Levys Point on the gravel. They are not permitted between Port Fairy and Koroit, or along Merri River into Warrnambool.
