About the Dartmoor Rail Trail
The Dartmoor Rail Trail, near Hamilton, is a chance to stretch your legs, or spin your wheels, on the way to the rail-trail refinement of South Australia
This asphalt trail runs through Dartmoor Rail Lands gently downhill from Radiata Rd to the Glenelg River, with sealed parking areas near both ends and a playground in-between.
Access: The Radiata Rd end of the trail has a car park off Railway Drive with wheelchair access (Search: ’43 Railway Drive’). Travelling south from there, you’ll come pretty quickly to the general store, where there are toilets, car parking and an EV charging station. The Dartmoor Hotel/Motel is to your left at 4 Lindsay Rd.
After the railway underpass at Greenham St, the Village Green playground and Fort O’Hare camping area you’ll come to the end of the railway embankment and a steel and concrete railway bridge over the Glenelg River. If starting from this end of the trail, the campground has parking with disabled access to the trail off Gambier Rd (Search: ‘Fort O’Hare Picnic and Campground’)
