About the Snake Lagoon Hike

Snake Lagoon Hike is an easy hiking trail on Kangaroo Island in South Australia, following a mixed surface of sealed and unsealed sections. The easy grading makes it suitable for most walkers with a reasonable level of fitness, including families with older children, although it is not listed as wheelchair accessible or stroller friendly. The trail is not dog friendly and bikes are not permitted, in keeping with conservation requirements typical of Kangaroo Island's protected areas. Remarkable Rocks lies roughly 12 kilometres from the trail and Admirals Arch sits about 14 kilometres away, both useful additions for visitors planning a wider day on the island's south-western coast. Walkers should bring sturdy footwear given the mixed surface, plenty of water, sun protection, and a windproof layer, as the exposed coastal environment of Kangaroo Island can shift quickly. Check current park access notices before visiting, as conditions can vary after weather events. Allow time either side of the walk to reach the trailhead, which is a drive from the island's main townships, and confirm ferry timings if travelling from the mainland the same day.
