Callaghans Tor

Located near Walcha in the New England region of NSW. Access via Thunderbolt's Way (Hwy 24) or local roads from Walcha township. Approximately 6 hours from Sydney, 2.5 hours from Armidale.

Callaghans Tor is a prominent rocky peak in the New England tablelands, significant as a local landmark and heritage site. The distinctive granite formation has long been valued for its panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Start early to avoid afternoon crowds and capture best light for photography
Bring plenty of water — no facilities on the walk
Wear sturdy footwear with good grip for rocky terrain
Check weather before heading out; exposed summit can be windy and cloudy
