History & Significance

Watarrka (Kings Canyon) is significant to the local Luritja Aboriginal people. The lookout provides views across the iconic MacDonnell Ranges and Finke River gorge country. The area has been protected as part of Watarrka National Park since 1989.

Getting There

Located near Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park, approximately 323 km south-west of Alice Springs. Access via Larapinta Drive from Iturra, or via Lasseter Highway. Standard vehicle access recommended; check road conditions before travelling, particularly after rain.

Parking

Free parking available at the lookout area. Limited spaces (approximately 15-20 vehicles). No designated accessible parking indicated. Overflow parking at nearby Kings Canyon car park if needed.
