About Mission Beach & the Wet Tropics

Mission Beach sits on Queensland's tropical coast where the rainforest meets the sea. This laid-back beach town offers direct access to walking trails through ancient World Heritage-listed forest, plus long stretches of sandy beach ideal for caravans and camper trailers heading north.

Walks & Trails

Over a dozen walking tracks crisscross the area, ranging from short beach strolls to longer rainforest hikes. The Ulysses Link Walking Track starts right here, while Kerry's Beach Walk and the Cutten Brothers Walking Track are both within 1km. For longer walks, the Dreaming Trail and Lacey Creek Walk venture deeper into the rainforest, while Fan Palm Walk showcases native palms and forest canopy.

Camping

Multiple caravan parks and campsites line the coast and nearby areas. Right in town, Mission Beach Camping & Caravan Park and Mission Beach Hideaway Holiday Village offer convenient beachside stays. The Kurrimine Beach area, about 10km south, has several options including Kurrimine Beach Campground, Kurrimine Beach Caravan Park, and Kurrimine Headland Caravan Park.

Attractions & Things to See

Further afield, The Big Cassowary roadside attraction and Josephine Falls make worthwhile day trips from the coast.

Golf

El Arish Country Club lies 17km away and offers 18 holes in a tropical setting.

Pubs & Dining

Mission Beach township has several casual dining options within walking distance. Mission Beach Tavern, Fish Bar, and The Garage Bar are all 1km away, perfect for evening meals and local atmosphere.
