Gilgandra is a small rural town in central-western NSW, serving as a gateway to the dramatic landscapes of the Warrumbungle ranges. The town offers comfortable base facilities for touring caravans and camper trailers, with easy access to both local attractions and some of NSW's most rewarding alpine hiking trails.
Walks & Trails
The Windmill Walk is just 1km from town, ideal for a quick leg-stretch. For more serious trekking, the ranges 73–78km away offer excellent day walks and overnight options: Mount Exmouth Track, Burbie Trail, Bluff Mountain Track, Cathedral Arch Track, Nuada Saddle Track, and Feba Tor Track all provide varied terrain and alpine views. Multi-day walkers can explore trail to Ogma Gap camp, Dagda Bluff Corner Track, and West Spirey Creek Track.
Camping
Gilgandra Caravan Park is just 2km away and ideal for caravans and camper trailers. For longer tours, rest areas dot the surrounding region: Marthaguy Rest Area (12km), Bulga Creek Rest Area (22km), and Berida Rest Area (27km, free). Further afield, Eumungerie Recreation Reserve Camp Site (28km) and How's the Serenity Camping Ground (48km) offer additional options.
