About this campsite
Owen Springs Reserve is a sprawling 1,570 square kilometre outback campsite located 50km west of Alice Springs, offering 4WD adventurers bush camping near Redbank Waterhole and scenic gorge country dissected by the Hugh River lined with red gums. The reserve features rocky gorges, red sand landscapes, and waterholes that attract wildlife, along with historical sites including the old Owen Springs Homestead ruins and explorer John McDouall Stuart's early 1860s expedition route. High clearance 4WD vehicles are essential to access this park, and visitors should note that a parks pass is required; roads may become impassable after heavy rains.
