About this campsite
Hungry Gate is a 20-site campground at the southern end of Hat Head National Park, located 30km north-east of Kempsey on the NSW North Coast and accessible by 2WD vehicle. The campground offers unpowered tent and camper trailer sites with toilets, picnic tables and rubbish bins, positioned just a 10-minute walk from the beach behind protective sand dunes. Wildlife viewing is a highlight, with Brahminy kites, kangaroos, little bent-winged bats and goannas commonly spotted among the established fig trees and paperbark vegetation.
